External Storage for your Computer

Specially if you have a notebook with little disk space, you should think about buying an external SSD for you computer.

What is the difference between HDD and SSD?

The HDDs are the old magnetic mechanic disks. In general their storage capacity are bigger. The 2,5″ HDDs can store up to 5 TB and are sold for around 100€.

The SSDs storage is done only with electronics. They are very resistants to drops and physical violence. Another big advantage is speed. Can be more than 10x faster than the old HDDs.

SSD Speed using a MacBook Pro

These are the measurement for a SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD External Hard Drive of 2 TB connected to a Macbook Pro 13″ of 2020. For the 1 TB the results are very similar.

I personally love this disk it is fast enough, the touch is very cool and the design also.

There is a new version named SanDisk Extreme PRO Portable SSD (external hard drive with SSD technology 2.5 inch, 1,000 MB / s read, NVMe SSD, IP55). The problem with this new version is that It requires more energy from your hub or computer.

If your hub is already full of devices and you don’t super-fast SSD, I recommend the slower version. It works like a Sharm even with the hub full of lots of external HDDs and SSDs…
